Health Care:

Memorial Hospital of Converse County (MHCC) is a state licensed; Medicare certified 25 bed Critical Access Hospital located near downtown Douglas, surrounded by scenic Laramie Peak and the Medicine Bow National Forest. The facility continues to improve services offered. The end of 2003 saw the opening of their new Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) Suites.

Other health care services offered include Eastern WY Mental Health, Therapy Solutions, RLR Occupation Testing, North Platt Home Health Care, Aurora Home Care, and Michael Manor.

Glenrock Hospital District (d.b.a.) Glenrock Diagnostic and Treatment Center is a total health care center and the Oregon Trail Rural Health Clinic serve patients 5 days a week.

Day Care: Douglas and Glenrock, both have licensed day care providers. Each have numerous private day care centers.

Senior Citizens' Centers and Senior Housingare available in Douglas and in Glenrock.

Churches: Churches of various faiths and denominations serve Converse County.

CANDO: is a Wyoming nonprofit corporation, formed June 15, 1995. Its mission is "to encourage new and existing business growth, with the least amount of disturbance to the area's Quality of Life." Visit them at


Museum And Cultural Attractions:

Douglas: Historic Fort Fetterman and Douglas Railroad Interpretive Museum Wyoming Pioneer Museum. The Wyoming State Fair in Douglas is held each year in the summer.

Glenrock: Glenrock Paleontological Museum and Deer Creek Station. Deer Creek Days are held each year during the summer.

Library: Douglas has a library with a total of 50,000 volumes. Glenrock has a library with a total of 26,118 volumes.

Converse County Libraries have accessibility to the inter-library loan system.


Recreational Facilities: Douglas and Glenrock offer numerous indoor and outdoor recreation opportunities. Douglas has a large private fitness center, public recreation center, and an indoor and outdoor swimming pool. Glenrock has an indoor pool. A variety of recreation programs are offered through the Community Recreation districts in Douglas and in Glenrock. Baseball fields, tennis courts, bike paths, soccer fields, parks and picnic tables are available and especially popular during Summer. Both towns have ice-skating rinks. Also available are hiking and camping opportunities at nearby national parks and forests.

Golf Courses: Douglas has an 18-hole golf course and Glenrock has a 9-hole golf course.


Spring: High Plains Country Music Festival, Jackalope Railroad Day: Wyoming Train, Photography, Art Exhibit, Douglas Wyoming High School Rodeo Finals, Western Art Show and Auction, Hunting, Skiing, Snowmobiling, Sightseeing, Bird Watching.

Summer: Deer Creek Days (Third week in July), Senior Pro Rodeo (August), Boating, Canoeing, Outdoor Swimming, Horse Back Riding, Wyoming State Fair, Rodeos, Golfing, Baseball, Tennis, Stream Fishing, Fishing Derby, Hiking, Outside movie Nights at Locomotion Park.

Fall: Wildlife viewing, National Bow Hunt, Hunting, Harvest Festival and Annual Halloween Festivals, Football, Volleyball, Douglas hunters barbecue 2nd to 16th Oct.

Winter: Cowboy Christmas, Plate river, Photography Show, Skiing, Ice Fishing, Snowmobiling, Basketball, Wrestling.
